Currently there are biological transmutation scholars who approach the subject from a slightly different perspective. The discovery in 1989 of nuclear fusion at room temperature (the so-called cold fusion, “cold fusion”), the idea that living organisms are capable of such performance became more easily acceptable to scientists working in the field.
